I grew up in a small midwestern suburb of St. Louis, MO. I am the mother of two grown sons who enjoy creative activities also. I earned a B.S. in information technology later in life.I enjoy many hobbies, and have loved writing since childhood.
Peppa Inez's Universoul Hair was quite frankly inspired so as to create a balance, so to speak, in it's own little way to counteract all the negativity those of us with naturally nappy hair continue to experience from society to this very day.
The message is manyfold! But the central theme is one of encouraging women and children that look like me- that your hair has a 'supreme purpose'-just like anything else in nature. Science confirms that your hair is an extension of your nervous system. We should consider more & more the benefits of being in our most natural state.
The naming of this character was quite a wonderful surprise! What I mean by this-is that the name Peppa and middle name Inez came to me pretty easily, but at totally separate times. Then months passed and suddenly I realized I didn't know the meanings of those names, and that maybe they would be undesirable somehow. So I decided to check the meaning of the names, and to my surprise-Peppa means -'God increases' and Inez means- 'pure/sacred'!
It has been the single most satisfying thing I have done in many many years. I am a 'nerd' at heart so learning anything new is my version of fun! So learning all the processes needed to complete this book was actually enjoyable despite the steep learning curve.
It is a pleasure and a long time coming, and it's time to celebrate and encourage each other! Now that I have been natural for some time, and understand the purpose of my hair both physically and spiritually. It is no longer the enigma that it was for so long.
